Poison Diamonds

I was just thinking today how I wish a really cool band would submit something to the vip@discoworkout.com for us to post.  We get a lot of submissions every day and I spend a lot of time listening to what comes in, but lately there has been nothing quite what I’m looking for.  I am sick to death of side chain compression, we don’t really post rock, and I don’t feel the need to promote already famous bands.  If you are a relatively small time disco band or producer with talent, please feed my hungry ears.  There’s a lot of good stuff out there that’s not yet discovered, like buried treasure!

On the subject, I had a stroke of luck today when Franklin Wong of Poison Diamonds dropped me a line on MySpace and told me about the awesome band he’s in.  His band with Abe Aranda, Poison Diamonds are a duo disco group from the Bay Area. They combine analog instruments like vintage synths, electric guitar/bass, and live drums with the digital effects, drum machines, and other electronic hardware. I think I read from their MySpace they’ve gotten rid of the digital stuff and replaced it with all analog gear. That means great sound and no boring live performance with some dudes staring into their laptops most of the set. Like their name implies, Poison Diamonds’ songs sparkle with great pop sensibilities, but keep the tone a bit reflective and melancholy to let you know they’ve tasted a bit of the poison life offers you from time to time.Check out these songs here, then visit their MySpace to hear more!
