mp3: “Why Me” – Planet P Project

Planet P was a side project of Tony Carey, who in addition to having his own solo career as a singer played keys in Rainbow. In their day, Rainbow with Cozy Powell on drums and Dio on vocals were fucking awesome, especially the album Rising which I remember reading Lars from Metallica say was his favorite album of all time in an interview a long time ago. Say what you will about Lars as a drummer, or even as a general dude, the guy definitely is a pretty good tastemaker.

Rainbow Rising is an amazing album and the album cover is also quite striking. Tony Carey I think also had some Top 40 hits in the 80’s – I think one of them is called “A Fine Fine Day”? Might be mistaken.

  • Yep, you’re totally right – “It’s a Fine, Fine Day…for a reunion”! Cool track, love how eclectic his career is.
