Disco Workout Presents: “2009 Was an OK Year.” A Mix by Baron von Luxxury.

Hi! I’m in New York City and there’s lots of snow and its awesome.

We listened to and posted about a lot of great music this year. However we did not post every single song we loved. We are slightly random and ornery and we write about some things when we have time and some other things slip through our posting fingers and there is not necessarily any rhyme or reason to it.

But we did make it through the year successfully and listened to music the whole time. And while we are guilty of possessing, at times, a somewhat pretentious artsy-ness, as well as our having musical ids that cannot be contained, organized or even explained, what follows is forty seven minutes and thirty six seconds of music that is quintessentially DiscoWorkout.com and reflects, for us, the year that was 2009.

We hope you like it, listen to it constantly, and share it with your friends, enemies and frenemies during this holiday season, and that it makes them like you more.

xx,

  • Really fun, solid mix. And 2009 may have been even a little better than OK. Where did the Baba O’Reilly mix come from? Would think it’s gonna blow up after they perform at Super Bowl.

  • thanks man, baba o’ was floating around the interwebs courtesy of the fantastic french producer SebastiAn. and that’d be dope if pete and roger played performed a live version of the song that sounds more like this, with drum machines and sequencers to replace the dead dudes!

  • WOW, this mix is SO awesome!!!

  • Yo, thanks for the mix ! it’s so sick it’s plague. Just wondering what kind of software/hardware you use to create a mix like this? I’m looking to do one myself..

  • @mcPP – Many thanks, so glad it made you infectiously ill! This mix = Ableton + MacBook + time. I started it in September, worked on it off and on for a while and then didn’t touch it for a month or so. I guess I had to let it sit, and for more good songs to come out. Then the holidays crept up and I got a final burst of energy/panic that it not remain incomplete into the new year. Et voila!
