Sugar & Gold ‘Get Wet!’

sugar and gold

Remember that cool cover of “Slice me Nice” by San FranDisco superstars Sugar and Gold (which was in my best of 2009 mix and also a Disco Sunday post some time ago)?

Well at last they’ve got a new full length and I’m really loving it: it’s more Italo synthy, with the same great songwriting and stronger production. These local homies have stepped up their disco game with résultats qui sont super sexuelles!

MP3: “Feels Like Fire” – Sugar and Gold

(MP3 taken down by request): “Bodyaches” – Sugar and Gold

“Get Wet” will be out April 27 on vinyl, CD and digital via Oakland’s Antenna Farm Records. Sugar and Gold will be playing with !!! at Mezzanine, SF for Noisepop on February 27, and their official album release party with Disco Workout fave Nite Jewel and some kid called Baron von Luxxury at San Francisco’s legendary Bottom of the Hill on April 29.

Speaking of MOI, if you are in LA please come to Spaceland this Sunday night and see the official debut of the Baron von Luxxury Disco Orchestra*!

*Not my official new band name but a pretty good placeholder, right?

** And yes, they spelled my name wrong on the flyer, but it’s my fake name, so it hurts less.

xx,
Baron von Luxxury is My Fake Name
@luxxury

P.S. Bonus: here’s a San FranDisco-licous video for Sugar and Gold’s song “Neighborhood” (from their 2007 album “Creme”):
