Finally, a young folks remix I like!

I got some pleasant mail this morning from Infix when I awoke from my nyquil coma. I think that “Young Folks” deserves every ounce of attention it’s been doused with in the last year or so. It’s a song that is comfortably accessible, but uniquely arranged. This is why it is been so difficult for me to find a remix of it that I feel holds onto it’s original gloomy intent, but adds something a little more electronic to it. I’m not overstating when I say that I truly love this remix. I don’t like any of the other remixes… except for maybe Cousin Cole’s re-edit. They all fall short and feel vapid.
I think I especially like the moments in the remix when it becomes a little quieter and the beat gets recycled a tad bit faster. Infix seems to appropriately bring back in actual clips of “Young Folks” at the right moments to make the remix endearing and resolved. He also does a Squarepusher-like remix of “Nature of the Experiment” by Tokyo Police Club (one of my fav 2007 tracks).
