Philosophy of Sound...

(Major self-promotion alert!) I’ve made a new mixtape that combines the old sounds of Boogie, Italo and Disco. It’s called Softly Shafted, and its a culmination of the unconscious connection between every musician featured on any of these records, and their influences. Interconnectivity at its finest! Anyways do check it out, and thanks to AmyMade for the image. I’m including a tracklist at the end of this post for those who are interested.

Also as an additional ‘lil bonus I’m tossing in a St. Ides Promo Jingle by Snoop Dogg, which additionally features vocals by the late, great, Nate Dogg (R.I.P.). St. Ides made these amazing commercials in the 90s featuring some of the most legendary all-time rappers, including Ice Cube, Wu-Tang (vid below), King Tee, Notorious B.I.G., Tu-Pac, etc… In addition to the television commercials, they put out two cassette tapes in ‘93 and ‘94 featuring all the jingles, which were later bootlegged to vinyl. I’ve heard that many of the rappers that jumped on board with St. Ides for these commercials received a ton of side to side head shaking from the community (forming the international “no, this is bad” sentiment). Apparently you are not supposed to use your star appeal to slang Malt Liquor…personally I think that these commercials actually jive truer to these artist’s actual outputs, than the typical dumbed down “hipified” jingles that are often written to incorporate artists into advertising.
