Apparat!

My fingers are horribly numb from the constant 45 degree climate in my house, so I’m feeling the icy industrial death of Telefon Tel Aviv’s remix of Apparat’s “Arcadia.” Jesus fuck, that was a long ass title. The song is some gloomy brilliance though, which isn’t surprising seeing as how Telefon Tel Aviv makes some of the raddest electronica in existence. Sadly my old job, Pasta Pomodoro (a shit hole, don’t eat there!), started playing “My Week Beats Your Year” near the end of my tenure there. I was simultaneously elated and mortified. That’s what the genius of the internetz has done for corporate chains – brought them bad ass electronica. Somehow I don’t think any of the 52 year old five diet coke drinking house wives liked it.

Apparat began his music career making songs geared towards backing your ass up, but in recent times has headed more towards an IDM (intelligent dance music) style. I like it, whatever the fuck it’s called. It creates a nice sense of space.
