Electric Youth! ! !
I only slept three hours last night and after three cups of coffee I am happier than a fucking clam. Electric Youth is basically the whip cream on my strawberry shortcake of a day. Middle school sweethearts, nine years later their musical collaboration has led to some of the best electro-pop of the summer. Bronwyn’s saccharine vocals light up Austin’s neon keyboards. They’re the musical equivalent of pixellated rainbows and sunshine. I am especially enjoying their authentic eighties-club-synth-melodies … after all they list one of their influences as “Nu Shooz.” Ftw. The track “Faces,” off their 2008 demo, is the absolute summer jam, check it out below.
They also put out a mix for Valerie that is a total homage to the nerdier side of new wave.
