Happy Hour with Yuppies and Passion Boys!
I am sitting in a cafe in the Marina in San Francisco mixing a song on my laptop that I’ve been working on with Sugar and Gold (look for it and some hot remixes from Johnatron and Loose Shus soon). I don’t know why but for some reason I’m reallllly productive when I sit in cafés surrounded by people with absolutely no sense of creativity or aesthetic danger. It’s like there’s absolutely nothing around to distract me from my work – nothing to look at or listen to that has any appeal to me. There are basically lots of brokers-and-PR-lookin’ people having happy hour. And working on laptops – PC laptops! (No offense, Johnatron!)
I have a fantasy that in the midst of the hippie jam band guitar noodling crap they’re playing, the following two songs from the ostensibly Hungarian “are-they-kidding-or-are-they-serious?” Passion Boys would come on, causing everyone to run screaming for the safety of their SUVs. Hey: a man can dream.
