Bringing back sappy rave house
Who the fuck is Fear of Tigers. He’s just so fucking awesome that when I first heard him I wanted to know how he had slipped through the cracks of my disco-fiending mind. His feature on Valerie unveiled the amazing “Adventures of Pippi Longstrump” which echoes with childlike joy at every bass bending turn. It possesses the energy of a final dance off between two angsty teenage lovers at a 1982 high school prom. Every single second of the track pushes you into a spinning world of neon and ecstasy.
After hardcore loving that track so much I had to explore his myspace. That’s where I found my 1996 anthem, “The Rich Cry Too.” The song begins almost like one of those uplifting soft rock tracks that would be played while getting your teeth cleaned. It quickly turns into an epic swirl of mid-nineties house with a pinch of glittery disco. The breakdown is like a gut-wrenching trance track that recalls pre-teen emotion. Possibly a little too epic to blast out of your car, but if you are confident in your disco-house love you’ll probably be doing just that on your next car ride.

P.S. Valerie (College + Anoraak) are coming to SF on January 30th with Loose Shus. If you didn’t already know, or haven’t bought your ticket, you better go get your ticket (only $12 pre-show!). It’s going to be amazing. Support a local SF resident (Loose Shus) and see a fantastic show!
