Justin Faust: Revenge EP Exclusive
!!! Remember when I posted the glorious video clip of people dancing in their futbol uniforms to the preview of Justin Faust’s “Revenge EP“? Well, the ominous day has arrived… the Revenge EP is available for us to download and get giddy over. This EP is arguably one of the most brilliant releases in quite some time. Faust has truly mastered the art of melodic cascading synthesizers, especially on “Capri Spinoff” which will push you into a world of rainbow covered fancy footwork. It’s difficult to categorize exactly what type of music these tracks would fall under, but that’s the most enjoyable part. The music lies somewhere between spaced out hi-nrg and post-2022 french house. Electronic music has a tendency to be doomed to uncreative looping, but Faust has a natural talent in creating tracks that have a variation yet maintain a strong singular energy. Most importantly, Justin Faust is forging a new path in electronic music that melts bright italo synth with electro bass and house rhythm. I’m in love.
Lucky for us, Justin Faust has been so kind as to give us a 128k version of “Capri Spinoff” as well as track remixes by Russ Chimes, Pelifics and Cyndi Seui! All of the remixes are as overwhelming as the tracks on the EP. Russ Chimes lays on a crunchier feel to Justin Faust’s super-sweet “Revenge.” Cyndy Seui gives “Capri Spinoff” an epic 1986 soundtrack vibe complete with catchy vocals. And, Pelifics breathes angsty teen movie heartbreak into “Surfer Mystique.”
