My Italo Crushes: Mito + Gino Soccio

If it weren’t for italo I wouldn’t have so many intense moments of nerves. I know it’s difficult to gather up that much emotion from such a seemingly odd and aesthetic genre, but italo pulsates me in a way that is unreal. If it weren’t for italo I’d probably get at least fifty percent more homework done. It’s my ball and chain.
The chirpy yet slightly clanky synth that crunches in the beginning of “Les Visiteurs” is something magical. The background beat pulses and thumps quickly while haunting male vocals lead you into a bleak and abandoned factory. Gino Soccio has a talent for creating poppy vocals with piercingly frigid beats… I like to call it artic-futuristic-disco. Perhaps most intriguing of all is that Gino was not actually an Italian producer, but Canadian. Lurv it.

In contrast to Gino’s bright synth hits, Mito creates a much more mechanistic droned out jam. It still clings to a pop melody, but I think it’s much more brooding. I imagine being trapped inside the circuitry of a 1983 computer, much like Tron except not as saccharine. Listen for the breakdown near the end!

Gino Soccio – Try It Out

WTF, Warner Brothers is worried that they’ll lose millions of dollars if we watch a fucking Gino Soccio video? I’m so sick of idiotic, fearful music industry luddites clinging to their dead end jobs. The jerks who control Soccio’s masters just lost him thousands of new potential fans. Nice work protecting your artist!
damn thats lame??? I just hit play and I see what you’re talking about.
that’s a tragedy, that was a good video.
I cannot belive WMG have taken this down…where the hell else am I gonna see this video!??! It’s not like its a high quality audio bitrate that people are gonna rip most people wouldnt know how to do that anyway. I would have loved to have seen it….any ideas where I can see it anyone??? I love how WMG work, so if I was to go down to my local second hand record store and pick up a second hand copy of this by this fairly “unmainstream” artist would that be ilegal!?!?! HOME TAPING IS KILLING MUSIC people!!
