Dynasty: Soul Funk Disco Orgasm
Oh my god. Everything about this video screams dirty boogie-woogie disco joy. I like to imagine when I’m grooving on a dance floor in SF I look like this, but I probably get nowhere near the ethereal glee of those bat-wing shirts. This song’s bass line just snaps and pops along the those giddy vocals. It sends me into complete bliss.
Dynasty formed in Los Angeles in the mid 1970’s and released their debut LP “Your Piece of the Rock” in 1979. “I Don’t Wanna Be a Freak (But I Can’t Help Myself)” was the album’s one hit wonder so to speak. But, the concept of “hits” is overrated anyhow since Dynasty is a gifted disco outfit who’s whole albums projected immense talent.
