Cerrone Infatuation: Celebrating My Graduation

don’t mind my shitty screen shot of Cerrone

Approximately two months ago I took a break from my hectic work and school schedule to divulge my disco obsession on youtube. I came across the most gorgeous disco videos, perhaps, I have ever found. Cerrone’s “Cerrone Culture” was released in 2004 and features his most lovely and giddy disco promo videos from the late seventies. I was completely floored by their capturing of joy and bliss in disco dancing. I did a post on Cerrone nearly two years ago, but I somehow overlooked his most lighthearted efforts. “Give Me Love” has become my bedroom anthem. I listen to that track on r-e-p-e-a-t… When the horns usher in they hit at the most melodic, heavenly moments. The song has the presence of a royal golden ballroom.

Then there’s “Cerrone’s Paradise,” which is equally bouncy in its celebration of a non-stop decadent disco party. I am pretty much always jealous of how much fun Cerrone has while playing the bongos, and of his studio 54 harem background singers. And, on that note, I am graduating college on Sunday. It’s all finally over. Yay for me.
