20th Century Foxes

How much more retro teenage time-capsule excellence can a movie poster possibly promise? Jodie Foster. Scott Baio. Randy Quaid! And while her name isn’t listed, the trained eye will also spot the distinctively blonde feathered head that can only belong to Runaways singer Cherie Currie. And last but not least, at the bottom comes the line: “Original music: Giorgio Moroder.” Stop right there: you had me at “Gior-”, right?

But wait, there’s one more reason to drop what you’re doing and add 1980’s “Foxes” to your queue. And that would be the disco-rock bad-awesomeness that is the band Angel performing the title track. A classic example of a 70’s Rock Band Being Told By Their Label They Better Put Out A Disco Song Or Else They Won’t Make It To The 80’s, the song is all the more awkward for its being clearly written just to have the movie title be the chorus. Inspired it ain’t…but there’s plenty of cowbell.

mp3: “20th Century Foxes” – Angel

Check out this great snippet of the film which has our four teenage heroines all gussied up on a school night on the town to see The Big Rock Show, featuring the aforementioned song by 70’s ‘Where Are They Now?’ bin dwellers Angel. Bonus: Damone from Fast Times, before he was Damone from Fast Times!

    Allsome!
I was totally thinking of this film when I did music for “Girls Lie” (VividAlt). Definitely needs to be double-featured with “Little Darlings”.

  • @justb you would appear to have a pretty sexy job…

  • Rocking Dragon Fly is pretty sexxxe, too –oui?

  • Well it should be fun, but I don’t forsee there being all that many nubile nipples on display…at least not belonging to hot chicks, anyway. But I could be wrong, only one way to find out!

  • OH MY GOD AMAZING! I love this movie SO MUCH!
